The Chikitas — Wrong Motel

No detours. Straight ahead to the next rock ecstasis. The female duo from Geneva consequently continues on the path they’ve set with their debut «BUTCHERY» (2011) and its follow-up «DISTORIS CLITORTION» (2014) with their newest record «WRONG MOTEL» (2016). Recorded in Tucson, Arizona, with producer Jim Waters (Sonic Youth, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion), THE CHIKITAS‘ third record explodes in a plethora of Rock and Roll, even more uncompromising than what has previously been heard  from Lynn Maring (guitar, vocals) and Saskia Fuertes (drums, vocals). Mercilessly, they put the elementary pieces of grunge, punk and rock through the meat grinder and cockily spit out their The Chikitas version 2016. The 20 days in Waters‘ studio have left distinct musical marks on «WRONG MOTEL»: for the first time ever, the duo tried its hand at analog recording and was able to profit from the experienced producer and ultimately tease out the most authentic version yet of THE CHIKITAS. The recording studio, which is situated in an industrial estate and features diverse oddities such as demonical statues or scary clown portraits, aroused the necessary Chikitas primary instinct in order to put everything in the balance. After a year laden with accolades (Rock-Award m4music Demotape Clinic, Rock-Award Swiss Music Talent), the duo invested all of its vigor and distinguishing kick-ass attitude in their newest Rock-oeuvre, which presents itself full of drive, joy of playing and remarkably consistent. There having been no stopping the two musicians on their two prior records, they now rampage even more unflinchingly towards Rock-Climax. «WRONG MOTEL» is Rock and Roll à la THE CHIKITAS – this is as sincere and straightforward as it gets.
